Public-Private Collaboration Makes Antiretroviral Therapy Program More Efficient Using 3G Advanced Wireless Technology

The Provincial Medical Office of Nairobi, Communications Commission of Kenya, Telkom Kenya, Axesstel, RTI International and Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), through its Wireless Reach™ initiative, are collaborating to implement a wireless health care project in Kenya that will improve HIV/AIDS treatment in Nairobi. The project harnesses the benefits of advanced 3G wireless technology to make the supply of antiretroviral medicines (ARVs) more efficient.

Free and open source software based on the zcore™ platform is being used by health centre pharmacists to manage the dispensing of ARV pharmceutical supplies to patients, management of pharmaceutical supplies, and routine reporting over the Telkom Kenya 3G mobile phone network.
